A Mother's Testimony
Before Salty Family Services came into my life, I had just driven across the country from California. Everything I owned was packed in my little silver Toyota Corolla. After ten years as a dedicated homeschooling mom of four, wife, and homemaker, I spent about ten months in California trying to become self-sufficient. Six months in, my kids returned to Florida to be with their father while I stayed to navigate the divorce process.
The idea of suddenly entering the workforce was terrifying. My self-esteem had taken a huge hit during my marriage. When I returned to Florida, I had an apartment on hold and a part-time job lined up. I felt more optimistic, thanking God for His provisions, even though it was the most terrifying time of my life. I soon learned that my children's father was already receiving aid, making me ineligible. This halted my plans, and I found myself in Florida with no family help and living out of my car. Thankfully, friends offered me shelter, and I rotated between their homes.
The stress was overwhelming, and being unable to be the mother I loved being was heartbreaking. A friend suggested I contact Salty Family Services. When I called, they listened and understood my situation. Shortly after I received a call back. I was offered guidance, hope, and encouragement that I wasn't alone.
Salty Family Services provided practical help and emotional support almost immediately. They connected me with a mentor who consistently checked in and helped me overcome immediate issues. When I finally moved into my apartment, my mentor connected me with their donation warehouse, where I could take what I needed. To this day, a little yellow cast iron pot sits on my stove as a reminder of the kindness I received.
Salty Family Services helped pay my rent for a month while I worked to stabilize my income. I felt my mentor treated me as a friend, not as a case. Now, I seek wisdom, grow in skills, and embrace opportunities. My children are happy and thriving, and I am grateful for the support I received. My mission is to extend the same hope and support to others. True prosperity is being in a position to give, serve, and help from a place of overflow. Salty Family Services and its supporters have shown me that God can turn ashes into a rose garden. I praise God and express my gratitude to Salty Family Services for their unwavering support.
