A Journey of Hope and Transformation

Due to a loss of financial support, CD, a single mother, found herself in need of help with a deposit for a new apartment for her and her child. She was struggling to make ends as she was no longer receiving child support and was getting only minimal assistance in the form of food stamps.

CD reached out to Salty Family Services for help and was connected with a mentor who met her for the first time on her move-in day.

As the mentor worked with CD on budgeting, she discovered that CD was facing numerous challenges. CD had developed a medical condition that made it difficult for her to work, which eventually led to her losing her job. She managed to secure a part-time delivery job while searching for more stable employment.

The mentor also learned that CD’s car was in need of repairs, but she couldn’t afford them. As a result, her car was repossessed, forcing her to rent a vehicle at an exorbitant daily rate just to have transportation. This significant expense, combined with her limited income, was overwhelming.

It was at this point that God’s mercy became evident. A young man who had recently earned his nursing degree was preparing to move out of state for a new job. Initially planning to trade in his car for a truck, he felt led by God to donate his vehicle to someone in need. He reached out to a Salty staff member, who then connected him with Salty Family Services.

The timing couldn’t have been better. CD secured a new job just as she received the title to this "new" vehicle. The young donor, CD, and the mentor met at the title office to transfer ownership, and they also took time to pray and celebrate this blessing.

Although CD still faces challenges, she has witnessed God’s faithfulness and continues to work with her mentor. Her mentor shared, “She has begun to proclaim Jesus and the power of prayer publicly. I believe she has undergone a transformation and reconnected with the Lord.”
